About Us

The Church of God traces its roots to a small meeting house on the Tennessee-North Carolina border where a group of eight Christians met in 1886 because of a restless desire to have a deeper relationship with Christ. A new church formed whose objective was to restore sound scriptural doctrines of the Bible and to encourage deeper consecration. That night at the Barney Creek Meeting House a movement ignited that has grown into one of the largest Pentecostal denominations in the world with a membership of over 6 million people in nearly 150 countries.

Bude Church of God traces its own beginnings to a Sunday night on May 10, 1942, in Bude, Mississippi with a small group of eleven members under the pastoral leadership of Bro. Horace Taylor. Today we still hear the the calling that led those at Barney Creek to experience the outpouring power of the Holy Spirit. It is our goal both collectively as a denomination and individually as a local church body to go forth with this same power and lead others to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. We are still callled to evangelism, discipleship, consecration, and service. This is our prayer, our mission, and our vision: to keep our eyes upon our Savior as we point the way for others to know Him as well.
